SUNFLOWER MEAL
It is obtained by grinding the remaining product after extracting the oil from the sunflower seeds. Meal produced in the form of bulk powder and bulk pellets is generally used as animal feed because it is a source of fiber and protein for cattle and poultry. In addition, sunflower meal is used as fertilizer and is used in some industrial applications, especially in the production of biofuels.
Turkey is not an important country worldwide in terms of sunflower seed meal production due to the inability to grow enough sunflower seeds.
In addition to high protein and amino acids, vitamins E and B are sources of phosphate, fiber, and potassium. World sunflower meal production is about 20 million tons per year. The first place in the production of sunflower meal is Ukraine, as in the case of the sunflower seeds. Immediately after Ukraine, Russia is in second place, and EU countries are in third place. Approximately 1 million tons of sunflower meal are produced annually in Turkey.
